"Producing Figurine Was Most Challenging" - Kunle Afolayan Speaks On Career

The producer of three of Nollywood's best movies; Irapada, Figurine and Phone Swap, Kunle Afolayan has said that the movie Figurine took 'sweat and blood' to produce and he thought he was going to die.

Yesterday, I had to opportunity to be part of a Google+ Hangout with Nollywood's finest film maker, Kunle Afolayan alongside two of my colleagues at work; Oluchi and Oge and other folks from across the world.

I asked him two questions and his responses were really interesting.

Of all three (aforementioned) movies, Kunle said Figurine was the most challenging to produce. In his words, it took 'sweat and blood' and he thought he was going to die.

He spoke about a few crazy problems that he encountered on set and worst of all was a big generator falling into the river while they were trying to access a location via water. He also spoke about the terrible sleeping conditions himself, Ramsey Noah and other folks had to endure for the love of the movie.

On one of the days they were shooting, there was an electrical spark that led to all their appliances, including phones and laptops blowing up. Chai!

He described the production as a 'labour of love.' He also said film making is about dedication, passion, not relenting, determination and having the right people around you.

Jump to the 46:16 mark to watch the part where I ask Kunle questions...
