Is Your Aso-Ebi Ready?

I love weddings!!! (*bigsmile*); weddings in Nigeria are really a big deal for everyone that will be a part of it. Getting your aso-ebi and making sure it is ready as at when needed is one of the troubles you have to go through just to be a part of that wedding ceremony.

On many occasions, I have declined going to a wedding because I either don’t have the aso-ebi or mine is not ready due to tailoring hassles and when I decide to go to a wedding without the aso-ebi, I do my home-work by ‘encouraging myself in the Lord’ (lol and *smh*) such that when I’m in the midst of others who have their own aso-ebi, I don’t feel bad or out of place (I’m sure we can all relate to this especially the ladies *winks*).

But of recent, during a Bible Study in the book of Matthew 22:1-14, I discovered that there is one wedding where you have to be with your aso-ebi as a child of God and that is the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Without this aso-ebi, a child of God is definitely going to be out of place and will be denied entrance during the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. From the parable illustrated by Jesus Christ in that passage of the Bible, it is not enough to be among the crowd invited to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, we must distinguish ourselves from others by ensuring that we have not stained or wrinkled our garment with sin and ensure that we have the right aso-ebi (wedding clothes) that is, we must ensure that our righteousness is of God.

It is our duty to look out for our aso-ebi and do all that is within our power to make it ready without any spots or wrinkle. Most times I think to myself and say ‘Lord, not even a wrinkle?!?! That’s quite scary and difficult!!!’ (*whew*) But HE continually makes me understand that HIS grace is sufficient for us and because we know HIM and are HIS children, HE has given us the power to live a godly life (2 Peter 1:3) such that our aso-ebi would be without spot and wrinkle on that glorious day.

Brethren, even as we prepare for that glorious wedding day between ourselves and our Bridegroom, let us key into the grace our Father has made available unto us, let us continue to please HIM in all that we do, let us continually pursue righteousness, let us do well to watch and keep our aso-ebi (garments) as well as make it ready for the coming of our Lord and King so that we will make that wonderful and glorious Marriage Supper of the Lamb on the last day and will not be found wanting. Revelation 16:15a says "Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garments..." God help us all...

Shalom!!!
