"Producing Figurine Was Most Challenging" - Kunle Afolayan Speaks On Career

The producer of three of Nollywood's best movies; Irapada, Figurine and Phone Swap, Kunle Afolayan has said that the movie Figurine took 'sweat and blood' to produce and he thought he was going to die.

Yesterday, I had to opportunity to be part of a Google+ Hangout with Nollywood's finest film maker, Kunle Afolayan alongside two of my colleagues at work; Oluchi and Oge and other folks from across the world.

I asked him two questions and his responses were really interesting.

Of all three (aforementioned) movies, Kunle said Figurine was the most challenging to produce. In his words, it took 'sweat and blood' and he thought he was going to die.

He spoke about a few crazy problems that he encountered on set and worst of all was a big generator falling into the river while they were trying to access a location via water. He also spoke about the terrible sleeping conditions himself, Ramsey Noah and other folks had to endure for the love of the movie.

On one of the days they were shooting, there was an electrical spark that led to all their appliances, including phones and laptops blowing up. Chai!

He described the production as a 'labour of love.' He also said film making is about dedication, passion, not relenting, determination and having the right people around you.

Jump to the 46:16 mark to watch the part where I ask Kunle questions...

#SaveALife: HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN YOU ARE ALONE!

Hi people..

I hardly get to blog as often as i would like to but i'm sure in time... i'll find a balance.

Here's something a friend shared on Facebook which I think we all should have and share... Living in a country like Nigeria and a city like Lagos especially... you find so many health issues!

We now have young folks having high blood pressure etc... We all need to be informed. Read this article on how to combat a heart attack. This could save a life.

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating ...improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.
However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.
A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.
Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital. Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives!!
A cardiologist says If everyone who sees this post shares it to 10 people, you can bet that we'll save at least one life.
Rather than sharing jokes only please contribute by forwarding this info which can save a person's life..

Words Of A Friendly Pen

Heeelllloooooo!

I hope it's not too late to say Happy New Year!!! I literally disappeared from on here and I can explain... (in another post)! lol

A friend of mine Jide Elegbede has by his words about me compelled me to share with you this afternoon.

Let me tell you a little about Jide...

I have known him since I was in 200 level... We clicked off from the get-go and have remained friends since then.

We used to 'ping' using non-blackberry phones. LOL! He also taught me how to drive; a bit!

He is a really good guy and today he painted me in beautiful colours...

Way back ago in times long gone,
I met you and every minute with you was fun,
Leaving you on each visit was hard to do,
Returning to see you I always did choose.

I remember how seeing you made me feel,
Like building a separate world and surrounding it with steel,
Where I can whisk you away to talk, laugh and play,
And having nothing to worry about even the next day.

It took me years to let you go,
I'm sure this and more confessions you already know,
A special part of me still craves for you,
My heart still wishes for its dreams to come true.

Your skills and gifts are simply intriguing,
To as many that cares to hear this I will sing,
That whoever has you has got it all,
And should stick with you like a baby to its doll.

I don't want to stop knowing you,
All I remember of you is nothing but good,
Stay the way you are,let not your heart faint,
For in due time, the whole world you'll surely paint!

These words are so beautiful I do not know what title to give the entire thing...

Thank you so much Jide! xoxoxoxo

3 Keys Tips To Achieve GREATNESS

Hi there... thanks for taking the time to read this!

Today's post is inspired by steps that I believe will help you and I to become that 'GREAT' man or woman we passionately wish to be.

Just like you, I want to be great! I want to be the toast of many nations... I want to inspire many more than the few friends I have and the what I never want to be is a 'Local Champion'

In Life, you find that everyone wants to be 'someone'... I would like to assume that every sane man, woman, boy or girl aspires to some level of greatness. Oh yes! We want to be who we have believe we deserve to be but many at times, you find that a huge percentage of us end up at the bottom of the divide.

My title reads"3 Keys Tips To Achieve GREATNESS and you are probably thinking... it sounds like the title of a book off the shelf but no. This is not an attempt to be another John Maxwell or any other famous author. This is my own little formula to becoming the woman I aspire to be and yes it works!

They are very simple tips; in fact, too simple. However, for the discerning mind... there is great wisdom to be attained therein.

TIP 1: Know Yourself

Asides from the journey to Heaven or Hell... one journey we are all on is the one to self-discovery. We earnestly want to find out who we are, what we stand for, our strengths, weaknesses and vices. We want to know if we have 'what it takes.' We want to find ourselves.

Well, the earlier you find yourself the better because until that is done, you are not better than that 'pure water nylon' you threw out the car window; a slave to the winds of life.

TIP 2: Know Your God

I cannot overstate this point! A man who knows not his creator better off not created in the first place. Only when you know your God will you know the purpose for which you were created. You cannot attain greatness outside of equation you were created to fit in to. In simple words, a square peg will never fit into a round hole. KEYWORD: 'Fit'

TIP 3: Surround Yourself With The Right People

This last tip is a no-brainer! Seriously though, did you think you would ever become that celebrated individual by keeping NFA candidates around you? Like seriously?!

If you are a man or woman of vision... take this simple advice... keep your kind close by and the outsiders where they belong... OUTSIDE!

The right friends, acquaintances, colleagues will give your destiny a boost, trust me! Remember, Iron Sharpeneth Iron!

And this is the end of the post!

Loved it? Tweet at me @OhLuWaMaYoWa :)

PS: Happy New Year... May God's blessings surround us always. Amen!

Unfortunately! You Only Live Once

So after a long hiatus... I'm back here again. Please blame it on my day job and the one-million events I have to be at this season #ExaggeratingOfCourse :D

Today's post is inspired by a picture I saw on Google+ ... A GOLD VENDING MACHINE!!!
This gold vending machine was located at the Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace hotel. This ATM machine dispenses 10-gram 24K bars of solid gold instead of cash. You can buy a 2.5, 5 or 10 gram gold bar for $193, $343 and $638 respectively.

Now this very picture reminds me of so many things! And yes, Money is involved.

By God's grace, I come from a family of 5 and I can say we are 'OK' financially. The kind of live I have lived so far has afforded me the rare privilege of being able to mix in any crowd ... high, low or middle class crowd, I will blend in well enough.

But really, I have come across people who are LOADED financially and when I hear of the way people spend money... I just find it impossible to understand how such people think.

For instance, A LOT of people buy tables at the big entertainment concerts and these tables go for nothing less than 500k (if it's a big event). When I hear of these things, I'm like ... where does this person work? How on Earth would one pay 1million naira for one table (sitting 10) at an event that would last for an average of 5 hours.

Often times, I remind myself that that is a narrow-minded way of thinking! Yes I agree. However, I ask myself how many mouths these 'rich' people have fed? How many homeless kids have they sponsored to school? With the level of deprivation, poverty and obvious lack we experience in this nation... someone can spend 1 million naira on a table when that same amount can save the lives of many individuals dying in general hospitals across the country...

Please note that I am not saying people shouldn't spend their (hopefully) hard-earned money ooo! And I am not saying the rich should wear rags just because of the poor ... but if you are 'that' rich.... would you spend money in a similar way?

I really would appreciate your thoughts on this...

PS: Season's greetings :)
